The gentleman's guide for wedding attire for any occasion.

Simple and elegant, the Black-Tie dress code calls for the most formal attire.

Guests should wear a black dinner suit, also referred to as a tuxedo, with a white dinner shirt and black bow tie, and black patent leather shoes. A white pocket square can finish the look, as now is not the time to stand out, and it is important to avoid accessories with colour. In modern days, a plain black suit with a black tie or bow tie is acceptable if one doesn’t have a dinner suit. Black formal shoes are adequate; no RM’s.

The groom can wear something with a little flourish like a midnight blue dinner suit or ivory dinner jacket to stand apart from his guests.

The cocktail dress code typically refers to semi-formal attire and calls for a suit or sports jacket and chinos. It can range from a very formal affair to something much more laid-back and informal. What the dress code means and what you should wear will vary depending on the venue and location.

All colours are welcome here, and velvet fabric can be a little more opulent for the jacket. Your cocktail outfit can be worn with or without a tie, but a pocket square is a must to elevate your look. Finish your outfit with a pair of leather loafers or lace-up shoes.

A garden wedding allows for more casual attire that is still suitable for a special occasion. A suit in linen or cotton blends works well, or a sports jacket and chino option. Floral patterned shirts with an open neck collar and pocket square will embellish your outfit and allow you to travel effortlessly between indoor and outdoor locations. At all times dress towards the elegant version of relaxed.

Beach weddings are typically casual and call for lightweight fabrics and relaxed styles. Unlined linen suits or jackets are perfect for this occasion, and natural tones will complement the event. If you are going to be on the sand, rolled hems with casual loafers will complete your look. Use accessories to spruce up your outfit that compliments the theme of the wedding.
