Archives for May2015
Autumn in Queensland means two things: crisp early mornings, and clear sky days that beg to be spent outdoors. We really feel for our southern-state chums when the weather turns. (#sorrynotsorry).
When it comes to dressing for an ‘Aussie’ autumn, season after season we attempt to master the oh-so tricky art of keeping warm while staying cool at the same time (uh…right).
The key to looking sharp while attempting this fiddly fashion season, is not, in fact, an arsenal of chunky cable knits and padded sleeveless vests (admit it, we’ve all been there), just a few multi-tasking pieces and thought-out layers will do the heavy sartorial lifting for you.
The Statement Blazer | Say goodbye to boring black and grey; electric blues and deep reds are the new neutrals! The humble jacket owned the AW/2015 catwalks this year, with bold colours continuing to play a huge role in many of the international collections. We say step out of your comfort zone and invest in a jacket that will ruffle a few feathers and raise a couple of eyebrows. Keep the rest of your outfit neutral and let the jacket do the talking.

Dressy Denim | Easily the hardest working item in man’s wardrobe, denim jeans are the ol’ reliable of the smart casual dress code, and the ideal staple to keep you looking classy in the cooler months. But be sure to keep your jeans looking crisp and well maintained—no one likes a straggly-bottomed pair! Wear with a crisp shirt and clean shoes.

Trans-Seasonal Shoes | Footwear also received a colour overhaul this season. Snap up this season’s coveted shoe — the desert boot — in a kaleidoscope of shades. Forget about bla-looking neutrals, this season is all about a pop of colour. Pair with aforementioned denim jeans for a causal look that will breathe fresh air into your trans-seasonal wardrobe.

Cashmere Knitwear | Now, this isn’t exactly ground breaking, but a good-quality cashmere knit is a no-brainer when the temperature drops. Cashmere’s nigh on magical properties of keeping you warm when it’s cold, and cool when it’s warm are mind-boggling.
